Internet Speed Test — Download, Upload & Ping in Seconds

One click measures your real download speed, upload speed and latency against Cloudflare's edge network.

Quick answer: Test your internet speed free in the browser: download Mbps, upload Mbps and latency — measured against Cloudflare's global network. No app install, no signup, no data collection.

Got a slow or weird result? Run the 60-second checklist
  1. Wired vs Wi-Fi: test once near the router, then again on ethernet — the gap is your Wi-Fi loss.
  2. Bands: on 2.4 GHz expect half of 5 GHz; switch bands and re-test.
  3. Close the hungry apps: cloud sync, backups, updates and streaming boxes eat bandwidth silently.
  4. Run it 3 times at different hours — ISP congestion shows in evening runs.
  5. Reboot chain: router off 30 seconds, then modem, then re-test.
  6. Compare with your plan: below 60% of promised speed on ethernet = evidence for an ISP support ticket.
  7. VPN off before testing — a VPN tunnel caps the visible speed.
  8. Data cap check: deprioritized speeds after a cap are an ISP-side change, not your gear.
Measured against Cloudflare's global edge · results never leave your device · test may transfer up to ~300 MB

How to use

  1. Press the big GO button — or just tap anywhere — and the needle comes alive.
  2. About 20 seconds: ping & jitter, then download, then upload, with a live speed graph.
  3. Share your result or compare it against your plan's promised speed.

About this tool

Speed tests lie when they use tiny files or far-away servers. This one runs like the tools you know: an Ookla-style meter with a live needle, an instant GO-start (one tap anywhere and the test begins), and a parallel-stream engine measured against Cloudflare's edge — the same network that serves a huge share of the internet, with a datacenter near almost everyone. It reports download, upload, unloaded ping and jitter, grades what your connection can handle (4K streaming, gaming, video calls, fast uploads), and if your network or adblocker blocks the primary test server it silently switches to a backup mirror instead of failing like other browser speed tests do. Results never leave your device; nothing is logged or stored.

FAQ

Which servers does it use?
Cloudflare's edge network as primary — your traffic hits the nearest datacenter — with an automatic backup mirror if Cloudflare is blocked on your line.
Why do I have to tap to start?
A real test moves hundreds of megabytes, so the meter waits for your first tap or the GO button — you stay in control of your data and still get results in seconds.
What is jitter?
How much your ping wobbles between packets. Low jitter matters as much as raw speed for video calls and online gaming.
Why do results vary?
Wi-Fi distance, other devices, ISP congestion and time of day all affect speed — run it a few times.
Does the test use my data cap?
Up to ~150 MB on very fast lines, far less on slow or data-saver connections — worth knowing on tight mobile caps.
Is my speed logged?
No — results exist only on your screen; nothing is sent back or stored.

Reading your result: Mbps, ping and next steps

This internet speed test measures your real download speed, upload speed and latency against Cloudflare's edge network in about 20 seconds from one tap. Here's how to read a plausible result: 145 Mbps down, 18 Mbps up, 11 ms ping, 3 ms jitter. What 145 down means in practice: a 1.2 GB game patch is 1.2 × 8 = 9.6 gigabits, and 9,600 ÷ 145 is about 66 seconds — speeds are megabits, files are megabytes, eight to one. Upload: a 500 MB clip at 18 Mbps is 4,000 ÷ 18, roughly 222 seconds or three minutes forty. Ping and jitter describe responsiveness, not size — 11 ms with 3 ms of wobble is calm.

Remember what the meter can't see. You're measuring the round trip to the nearest Cloudflare datacenter, so a great result doesn't guarantee the same path to a game server in another region — if one app lags while the test looks strong, the bottleneck lives past the meter. Also mind the data: a full run can move up to ~150 MB on fast lines, so don't loop it hourly on a hotspot plan. My routine: test on Wi-Fi, then wired if you can, and let the gap between the two numbers tell you whether the router or the line is the weak link.

Internet Speed Test questions, answered straight

What speed do I actually need for video calls?
Less than you'd think — call quality leans on steady upload and low jitter more than headline download. The test grades your result against common uses like video calls, gaming and 4K streaming, so read that verdict instead of chasing a bigger number. If calls still stutter on a 'fast' result, look at Wi-Fi congestion and other devices hogging the line.
Why is my upload so much slower than my download?
Because most consumer connections are asymmetric — cable and DSL plans reserve far more capacity for downstream, since browsing and streaming pull data in. Fiber plans often run symmetrical, which is why uploads there feel dramatically faster at the same headline number. So a 145/18 result isn't a fault; it's the shape of the plan you bought. Upload-heavy tasks are where it shows.
Can I use this to test a VPN?
Yes, and it's one of the more honest checks you can run. Note your normal result, connect the VPN, run it again, and compare download, upload and ping — the difference is the tunnel's overhead, usually modest on nearby servers and painful on distant ones. Run both tests a couple of times, since a single sample on either side can mislead.
Should I test over Wi-Fi or ethernet?
Both, if you can. Ethernet measures the line's true ceiling without radio in the way, so it's the number to compare against your plan. Wi-Fi adds distance, walls and interference — testing in the same room as the router versus the far bedroom tells you more about your home network than any plan upgrade would. Big gaps between the two point at Wi-Fi first.
