About this tool

Wrong photos are the number one avoidable reason visa and DV Lottery applications get rejected. This checker validates your image against the exact technical rules: US DV Lottery (exactly 600×600px JPEG, ≤240KB), US passport/visa (2×2 in), Schengen (35×45mm) and Canada (50×70mm). A head-alignment guide shows the required framing. Photos are processed on your device only.

FAQ

What are the exact DV Lottery photo rules?

JPEG file, exactly 600×600 pixels, under 240KB, 24-bit color, white background, head 50–69% of image height, neutral expression. Non-compliant photos are the top disqualification reason.

Is my photo uploaded?

No — checking runs entirely in your browser. The photo never leaves your device, so no third party (including us) can see or store it.

Are third-party photo checkers trustworthy?

The US government offers its own photo tool (tsg.phototool.state.gov) for the final crop check. Use this checker to validate technical specs privately first — then the official tool if you want a second opinion. Never email your photo to unknown services.

What about EXIF metadata in my photo?

The DV entry system does not inspect EXIF data, and this checker reads pixels only — it never stores anything. Re-saving your photo in any editor also strips most metadata if you prefer a clean file.

Does this guarantee acceptance?

It validates all technical specs. Final approval is always the consulate's decision — also follow the framing guide for head position.
