About this tool

Two and a half years apart hides real information — this calculator gives the exact calendar difference between two birth dates (or any two event dates): precise years, months and days with proper month-length borrowing, plus total days and a weeks-and-days breakdown. Perfect for siblings, anniversary planning, contract dates, pregnancy milestones or sports age brackets. It handles leap years and 31-day months through real date arithmetic, not 30-day shortcuts, and swaps the dates automatically so the answer reads naturally. All the math runs in your browser — the dates you enter are never sent anywhere. Everything runs locally in your browser — nothing is uploaded, nothing is sent to any server, and closing the tab erases it all.

FAQ

How are months counted?
Calendar-exact: if the day-of-month is not reached, a month is borrowed from the previous month using its real length (28/30/31).
Does it handle leap years?
Yes — real Date arithmetic, so Feb 29 and 29-day borrow months work correctly.
Can I compare events, not just births?
Yes — the math is date-agnostic; it works for any two calendar dates.
What is the total-days figure?
The exact count of 24-hour days between midnight of each date — the same number calendars print.
Are the dates stored?
No. Everything runs locally in your browser — nothing is uploaded, nothing is sent to any server, and closing the tab erases it all.

Worked example: sibling age gap, step by step

An age difference calculator gives the exact gap between two calendar dates in years, months and days — you enter two birthdays and it handles the borrowing math. Take a real one: a child born March 14, 2019, and a sibling born November 6, 2024. The engine adds five whole years to land on March 14, 2024, then counts seven full months to October 14, because the next month boundary would land on November 14, past the second date. The leftover stretch borrows October's 31 days: 17 remaining October days plus 6 November days makes 23. Answer: 5 years, 7 months, 23 days. As raw days, 2,064 — which splits into 294 weeks and 6 days.

Watch what happens when the day-of-month doesn't exist in the next month. Compare January 31 to March 1 in a non-leap year: February has no 31st, so the tool treats January 31 plus one month as February 28, then adds one more day — one month, one day, not a made-up thirty-first of February. That's honest calendar arithmetic, and it matters for lease dates, trial periods and age brackets. Date order doesn't matter either; the older date is detected automatically, so the answer always reads forward.

Age Difference Calculator questions, answered straight

Can I track a pregnancy milestone with it?
Yes — put the first day of your last period in as Date 1 and today as Date 2, and the months-and-days readout tracks how far along you are without any 40-week guessing. The same trick works for anything you count forward from: a start date at work, a plant's germination day, or day one of a training plan.
How is this different from a plain days-between calculator?
A days-between tool returns one number — the total day count — and leaves the interpreting to you. This one gives the calendar-shaped answer people actually quote: years, months and days, plus the weeks-and-days breakdown for younger kids. Use it when the answer is going on a form, in a birth announcement or into an argument about who's older.
Why do two age calculators sometimes disagree by a day or a month?
Usually because one of them pretends every month has 30 days or does flat year subtraction without checking whether the anniversary has passed. Calendar-exact math borrows from the previous month's real length — 28, 30 or 31 — and only counts a full year once that date has actually arrived. The honest-borrowing method matches what a paper calendar shows.
Can I use it for a school cutoff or sports bracket?
That's one of its best everyday uses. Enter the child's birthday as one date and the league's or district's cutoff date as the other, and the years-and-months figure tells you instantly which age group applies. Coaches and registrars care about the month as much as the year in those cases, which is exactly what the Y/M/D breakdown preserves.
