Video Trimmer — Frame-Accurate Cuts, On-Device

ffmpeg.wasm re-encode trim (accurate, not keyframe-snapped).

Quick answer: Set start/end seconds and cut a precise clip from your video on-device. Re-encoded for frame-accurate cuts; downloads instantly.

How to use

  1. Drop video.
  2. Set start/end seconds.
  3. Cut → download.

About this tool

Copy-stream trimmers snap your cut to keyframes and hand you extra seconds you didn't ask for. This one re-encodes the selected range (H.264 ultrafast) so 2.0s means 2.0s — ideal for WhatsApp status clips, bug-report screen captures and submission reels. Set start and end in seconds, preview the length, cut, download. Your file never leaves this page — processing runs in your browser via WebAssembly; nothing is uploaded and the file is dropped from memory when you close the tab.

Cutting a 26.5-second segment out of a 55-second capture

The Video Trimmer cuts an exact segment out of a clip by re-encoding your chosen range, so the boundaries land exactly where you set them. A tester sent me a 55-second bug-report capture where the actual crash happened between 12.0 and 38.5 seconds. I typed those two numbers in — end minus start makes a 26.5-second clip — ran the cut, and the download was precisely that window: no leading seconds of me scrolling, no trailing coffee break. Frame-accurate beats keyframe-snapped, every single time.

The re-encode is what buys that precision, and it carries one tradeoff: output is a fresh H.264/AAC encode rather than a byte-for-byte copy, so don't promote a trimmed clip to your archival master — keep the source for that. Times are plain seconds and decimals work: 90 means 1:30, 12.5 means twelve and a half seconds in. The end value has to be larger than the start or the tool simply refuses to run, which has saved me from more empty exports than I'd like to admit. For sharing, the MP4 result goes straight into chat or email without a second thought.

Video Trimmer questions, answered straight

Are the start and end boxes in seconds or minutes?
Seconds, and they accept decimals — 90 is 1:30, 12.5 is twelve and a half seconds in. That granularity is the point: the re-encode honors fractional times exactly, which minute-based pickers can't. Get your cut points from a player's timestamp readout, then type them in.
Can I pull two different segments from the same video?
Yes — run the trimmer twice, once per range. The second run reads your original file again, so quality loss doesn't stack between segments. If you want the two cuts joined back to back afterwards, that's a job for the merger, not a second trim.
Will the audio stay in sync after a cut?
Yes — start and end times apply to the audio and video tracks together, so a 26.5-second clip means 26.5 seconds of both. Cuts at odd decimal points are re-encoded precisely, which is what keeps speech from drifting or clipping mid-word at the boundaries.
Is the trimmed MP4 ready to share directly?
It's a standard H.264/AAC MP4, the same combination every major platform and messaging app accepts, so yes — no post-conversion needed. I've sent trimmed bug reports through chat and email without a single complaint. Just remember the encode is tuned for speed, not archival quality.
